He crafts animals, birds, skeletons, and alebrijes out of heavy metal wire, solders the entire piece together, and then paints the figures with bright and beautiful auto paints. The results are exuberant, lively, colorful, and imaginative works of art that will brighten any environment and are sure to be conversation pieces. Hernández began working with the famed paper maché artist, Saulo Moreno, who began his sculptures with wire but then completed the pieces with paper maché. Hernandez got the idea to use solder and create the pieces out of metal alone.
